Upcoming Portrait/lighting Workshop Wed. March 15th

Everyone,

We have a Portrait/Lighting Workshop coming up on Wed. March 15th at 7pm. It will be in the regular Photo Fredericton meeting room at STU.

It will be similar to last year – John MacLean and I (André Reinders) will have 2 portrait stations setup (one flash and one studio light) and will go over some common equipment and setup, as well as answer questions and give participants a chance to try the equipment. We will try to have one or two subjects available to photograph.

(the room is only available at 7pm, so we will be setting up then, if you arrive early you may not be able to get in, however we can talk about equipment while we setup, to make the most of our time)

We will limit the sign up to 12 participants and will email out the link to the sign up sheet.

Thank you.

Flash Photography – 9AM – 12 Noon, Saturday, November 14th, 2015

Goal of this session is to have people become more comfortable using their external flash and its settings, and to demonstrate different flash modifiers and their effects

Topics covered are:

  • Camera settings and flash settings and how they work (or don’t work) together
  • There will be demonstrations of different flash settings while tethered to a computer/projector
  • Focus will be on flash concepts and manual flash, auto settings for Canon flash and maybe if available for Nikon specific information
  • Other techniques: fill flash; bounce flash; and flash with ambient light, first/second curtain sync, and modifiers
  • Time will be allotted for participants to try using concepts learned and taking photos with their own flashes
  • Some spare flashes for people to use will be available

Those with just a built in flash on their cameras will still benefit from the information. Some of the techniques can still be done with built in flash, for example flash exposure compensation. Some cameras also have built in flash settings, and owners of these cameras can try out some of the spare flashes that will be available.

Preparing an Image for Printing – 1.00 – 3.00 pm Saturday 8 March 2014

Roger Smith has agreed to do a short printing demonstration, illustrating some of the basic steps he uses in preparing an image for printing. This might be of particular interest to club members who are having prints made for the Playhouse exhibition, but anyone is welcome to attend and bring an image on a USB drive. Participants will be able to see their prints being made and take them home afterwards. Cost to make a 10×15 inch print is $20.

If you wish to attend please fill out the form at http://bit.ly/1gVW7mJ    You will then be sent details as to the location of the workshop.
